Do dogs NEED their toenails clipped?

Yes, especially if you don't walk them very much. I've heard that, walking them, like on the sidewalk, helps keep them from getting long fast, I suppose, from the ware of the concrete.Do dogs NEED their toenails clipped?
she really didn't answer the question...explain why

Do dogs NEED their toenails clipped?
yes if they dont get to walk on asphalt or concrete to wear them down. you can do it at home but i would go to the vet the first time to watch it done before you attempt it. you can cut them to short and hit a small nerve and cause a little bleeding, seeing a pro will give you confidence and little knowledge before you start.
YES they do need their nails clipped. If you don't clip them they tear furniture and your body when they jump on you. If your dog gets enough exercise to keep the nails wore down, then probably not. But if the nails do not get worn down, it can be very painful to the dog. The nails will even begin to curl over making it difficult for the dog to walk. It's very painful if you don't keep them trimmed.

I have my vet do it. They usually don't even charge and you don't need an appointment. It's difficult for you to do it if your dog's nails are dark. You can't see the ';quick'; so you don't know how far to clip. If the dog's nails are light, you should be able to because you will see the pink part and not clip that far.
yes. if you have not done it before I would go to a pet groomer and have them show you how
They don't really need all of their nails clipped, just the dew claws and hind claws. Otherwise it could invite ingrowth.
if they get to long yes but my grandma+grandpa keep their doggys nails long because they have coyotes and shes usually outside so they keep them long so she can defend herself!
Yes as stated above. Even if you walk your dog regularly or they dig you should check them from time to time just to be sure they aren't getting too long. Also, if your dog has dew claws they must be trimmed every couple of weeks. My dog's dew claws actually ended up growing in a complete circle once and went back into her skin and she got an infection. I had to take her to the vet (who never mentioned them before :() so he could take care of them and then I had to keep them clean with salt water and put antibiotic powder on them until they healed and it wasn't very pleasant for her either.
Well this is a simple question. Yes they do. Do you need your toenails clipped? Well so do they.
The toenails will grow very long and will be uncomfortable for the dog unless they are cut or or worn down by use. Most dogs (and cats) will need their toenails clipped regularly. A benefit to keeping your dog's paws nicely manicured is that you can also keep an eye on the soft paw pads that might be injured or require attention.
It basically depends on a few things. If you exercise them regularly and try to walk them on hard surfaces (such as concrete footpaths) their nails should wear down naturally. However if your dog is lazy (or you are) you should probably consider clipping their nails. You should do this, however, with great care. Their nails are important, they are not just for scratching people. If you don't clip their nails properly you could damage nerve endings or even make it difficult for the dog to move easily.

Either way, you should check your dogs nails every now and then. Some hind and dew claws need to be trimmed regularly. Larger dogs seem to have better luck than small dogs with keeping their nails at a managable length. If you're one of those people who loves to spoil or unecessarily pamper your dog or if you're not confident about doing it yourself, you could consider a manicure at the Vet or Groomers.

Essentially, it depends on the breed of dog, the amount of walking and the surface which it walks on.
DEFINITLY, if you dont the nails can over grow into the pads of there skin and get infected, should be dont atleast once monthly,
