What causes thickened toenails. Can it be avoided ?

usually a fungal infection, they take a sample of your nail and analyze it. for a fungal infection you have to take lamisil or a pill medication for a length of time I believe it's a year to get fully rid of it as the fungus is in your system, it's under the nail. The brush on remedies do not work, they don't penetrate the hard nail to kill it. things like tea tree oil and menthols will help symptoms but not totally kill the fungus either. Lots of people try home remedies but they only get rid of symptoms. You can also whiten yellow nails with tooth whitener strips too but again you are masking the symptoms and the fungus is still in the body. What causes thickened toenails. Can it be avoided ?

There is a fungus among us. LOL Probably a fungus. Lamisil has to be taken for about 6 months before you even know if it's going to work for you or not. Expensive and insurances often don't want to pay for it.
