Ingrown toenails! what is the best and least painful way of removing?

If it's not too bad (not red, hot, or swollen) you may be able to fix it by pulling the skin away from the nail a little and sticking some cotton under it to keep the nail out of the skin (leave the edge of the cotton sticking out a little bit). Then just leave it until it grows out enough to stay above the skin by itself.

If it is red, swollen, or otherwise nasty-looking...see a doctor.Ingrown toenails! what is the best and least painful way of removing?
I had 2 ingrown toenails removed last week. Previously I removed them myself by just digging under and cutting them out; however, that was not what you're supposed to do when you get them. The only safe and correct way to remove an ingrown toenail is to see a medical professional, they can give you 2cc of novacaine (or some alternative topical anasthetic) which greatly reduces the pain of removing it/them. They can also give you tips (such as cutting straight across), on not getting them again. Hope this advice helps, and best of luck!Ingrown toenails! what is the best and least painful way of removing?
why not see a Podiatrist, and have it taken care of, before any infection develops.
Hell my name is Larry and I am a medical assistant. There is a painless way of removing it but after the fact that it is removed it will be very tender on that toe. It will also depend on how bad the nail is. The method that could be used is called a digital block and that requires an injection of a numbing medicine into your toe. After it is numb they will remove the part of the nail that is causing the problem or remove the whole nail. I have assisted in this precedure before and by the looks on the peoples face they feel nothing. But there is nothing that you can do after the fact except take some advil or some other pain medicine. I hope this helps you. The doctor will also instruct you on the proper way of cutting your nails in the future so this will not happen again. In regards to placing cotton under the nail that will be only a breeding ground for bacteria to accumulate. Then your next question on Yahoo answears is how do I remove cotton from my toe
This can be serious. See your doctor. It does not hurt to bad when they remove your nail after the lidocane.

Best of luck to you.
