Do male cats need to be fixed? And Should i clip his toenails? my mom babysits?

please helpDo male cats need to be fixed? And Should i clip his toenails? my mom babysits?
They dont HAVE to be fixed but its a very good choice to get them fixed. If you dont, the cats can go around getting other cats pregnant and having more kittens that people dont want causing an overpopulation of cats. And you should clip his toenails not declaw because declaw causes pain and change in behavior. Cut off a little (dont cut off the quick which is the pink part in the nail) about every month. Good luck!Do male cats need to be fixed? And Should i clip his toenails? my mom babysits?
Yes he should be fixed. I have an indoor male cat that began spraying in house when I got another cat. It was awful, no words can express how bad it smelled. We got him neutered and the spraying stopped, and had to replace the carpet and wash the walls in the livingroom because we could not find where the dreadful smell was coming from. So yes, please fix asap!

Start clipping toenails and bathing when they are kittens so they get used to it. They won't like it if they are already adults and getting clipped or wet for the first time.
Neutering male cats lessens their chances of developing testicular cancer in later years, lessens the chance of their spray/marking in your house, etc. Also, it prevents them from wanting to ';escape'; the home and go ';tomcatting'; around......getting into territorial fights with other tomcats, fathering unwanted kittens with those females that other people leave unspayed and let run around ';unprotected';.

Keeping your cat inside will also protect him from the ';traumas'; of the outside world........vehicles, other cats, dogs, poisons, pesticides, mean people, being picked up by people who think he's a stray, other ';predators';, etc.

For a calmer, more sociable cat, have your male neutered before he becomes mature....( 5-6 months), and keep him as an inside cat.. Some cats mature earlier, so just be alert to any behavior changes..wanting to go outside, backing up to walls, etc and wiggling tail (possibly spraying). Get this operation done BEFORE that happens! Territorial marking smells DREADFUL.....and is very hard to get out of things. AND...once the cat starts to do this, sometimes even neutering doesn't stop it...so get it done before he starts.

As for clipping toenails........YES, clip the ';pointy'; ends off of the nails, being careful not to ';nick'; the pink line inside the nail. That's the ';quick'; (blood supply), and it will bleed. It will also HURT, so the cat won't want you to hold / clip his nails again!!

I don't recommend having his claws removed, because that's like taking YOUR fingers off at the knuckle (where your fingernails are). That's very painful, and sometimes makes the cats walk on their ';ankles';, while their paws are healing. Just ';inhumane'; as far and I'm concerned!! Besides, a cat needs his front claws for protection, if he ever gets into a situation where he's in trouble....up a tree, chased /cornered by another animal, teased by bad kids, etc.

If your mom babysits, and she doesn't want to be scratched, tell her to NOT hold the cat too tightly! When a cat wants down is when people usually get scratched.

Hope this helps.......Good luck.
Unless you like the smell of cat urine I would get him neutered cause as he gets more mature he will spay every available surface.

And if he gets out he may not come back. So yeah get him neutered for his own happiness and yours.

As for his claws you can get them trimmed, if you are unsure your vets or groomers will help you out.

Make sure he has plenty of toys and a big scratching post to avoid wreckage to your furniture and your hands.
Yes... because they will spray if not and wander after the girls cats.

If the toenails need trimming you have to be REALLY CAREFUL not to trim them too close. It will be VERY painful if you do.

and babysitting???? ok?
I suggest you get him fixed... And id cut his front nails so the kids your mom babysits don't get scratched.
if u fix him, he will lose some interest in running away or watever, but it doesnt seem to effect their psycology that much at all
they don't have to be

its your choice

and you don't clip there nails silly

you get them declawd
Yes to both questions.
