My fiance has darker (brown) toenails, which are on the the thicker side. He says he never cuts them short because it hurts as if there were nerves in his nails. My mom has this problem also, and I have also noticed that people that are the same race as him have the discoloration. Fungus? Hereditary? What is it? Its just hereditary, nothing serious its normal runs i the family and not race, anyway he should not cut it so short, he knows how much. There is no treatment for it, dont worry about it.
